driftwood vs 11x

Updated July 2026. Prices checked 2026-07-21; this page gets a monthly fact-check.

11x sells autonomous digital workers, and the promise is replacing SDR hiring: Alice runs outbound end to end, Julian covers the phone, and pricing arrives on a sales call. driftwood (driftwood.sh) is built on the opposite belief, that the job is making the humans you already employ better at selling, with a working demo of your product in every message and a person approving each send. If you are a mid-market or enterprise org replacing SDR headcount, 11x is the evaluation to run; if replies are your constraint rather than capacity, keep reading.

This is our own comparison, and driftwood is one side of it; judge accordingly. Hard claims about 11x are linked to outside sources where they are made, and the sourced detail lives on our full 11x page.

Head to head

Six rows decide it; they are the same sourced rows our full 11x page maintains.

Where 11x genuinely wins

The scope, the backing, and the buyer it fits.

Scope is the real strength. 11x is the fullest expression of the replace-SDR-headcount bet: one platform covers sourcing, research across what 11x says is more than 50 data sources, and multi-channel sequencing spanning email, phone, social, and SMS. Unusually for the category, the phone is in the box, since Julian lives in the same product as Alice.

The backing and the lean. The company has raised more than $70 million from Benchmark and Andreessen Horowitz, and the positioning leans mid-market and enterprise, priced against SDR salaries. For an org replacing headcount, with Salesforce or HubSpot already in place to feed it, that comparison holds.

Who should stop reading here. If you want email, social, and phone handled by one vendor, and a reported five-figure annual contract fits the budget, 11x is the evaluation to run, and this comparison ends in its favor. Do the diligence on the way in: reference-check current customers and get any break clause in writing.

Where we win

What the message carries, who is in the flow, and what it costs to start.

The message carries the product. driftwood runs demo-led outbound: every message includes a working demo of your product, built for the specific prospect receiving it, so the prospect sees your product working on their problem before replying to anything. Alice personalizes text at volume, and the ceiling of that approach is that your prospects already receive the same class of email from every AI SDR.

A person stays in the flow. The agent researches the prospect, builds the demo, and drafts the message; a human reviews each send, and sending happens from your own LinkedIn or email account, so the replies land with you and stay yours.

under 1%

over 14%

On the same lead list, replies went from under 1% to over 14% in week one at Autosana (YC S25).

Cheaper to start, labels attached. driftwood's price is published, $1,000 to $5,000 a month. 11x publishes none, and the figures that circulate, near $5,000 a month per digital worker on an annual contract with implementation fees on top, are procurement data reported by Vendr rather than a price page. On those figures we are the cheaper entry, and the published-versus-reported difference is part of the point; every figure, labeled, is collected on our AI SDR pricing page.

The philosophical difference

Replace the humans, or help them.

Two different bets. 11x sells digital workers so you do not hire SDRs. driftwood exists to make the people you already employ better at selling. Those are not two feature lists; they are two answers to what went wrong with cold outreach, and they produce different products.

What autonomy costs. In a fully autonomous product, the author of the message and the owner of the reputation are different parties: every send improves the vendor's numbers, and a bad one lands on your name. The record here is dated and public. In March 2025 TechCrunch reported that some companies whose logos appeared on 11x's site said they were not customers and that former employees described losing 70 to 80 percent of early customers; 11x disputed the characterization, said its retention at the time was 79 percent, and its investors publicly backed the company, and in May 2025 the founder handed the CEO role to the company's CTO. Both sides, dated, are on our full 11x page.

What we do instead. driftwood's counter is construction, not policy: every message carries a working demo, a person approves each send, and we design for the message to leave a prospect thinking better of your company whether or not they buy. That last part is intent, not measurement, but the Autosana week points the same way, including founders who had ignored more than four months of prior outreach.

Which to choose

The five-line version of each case.

Choose 11x if

  • You are a mid-market or enterprise org that wants outbound capacity without adding SDR headcount.
  • A five-figure annual contract fits the budget, and a sales-led buying process does not put you off.
  • You want email, social, and phone handled by one vendor; Julian makes that rarer than it sounds.
  • Salesforce or HubSpot is already in place to feed it.
  • You have reference-checked current customers and negotiated the break clause.

Choose driftwood if

  • The reported entry price rules 11x out before any product question comes up; that is most founders and seed-stage teams.
  • You want every send to carry a working demo of your product rather than personalized text at volume.
  • You want a person seeing every message before it leaves, sending from accounts you already own.
  • Replies, not capacity, are your constraint, and your product demos well.
  • You accept fewer sends and no phone channel; driftwood is early and trades volume for depth.

FAQ

Three short answers specific to this pairing.

Is driftwood cheaper than 11x?

At entry, yes, with the labels attached. driftwood's pricing is published: $1,000 to $5,000 a month. 11x publishes no pricing; the reported figures are about $5,000 a month per digital worker on an annual contract, with implementation fees on top, and Vendr puts the median contract near $55,050 a year.

Treat the reported numbers as directional and confirm with 11x directly; on those figures, our floor is lower.

Does driftwood cover the phone the way Julian does?

No. driftwood sends on LinkedIn and email from your own accounts and does not do phone outreach.

If calling is part of your motion, that is a genuine point for 11x, where the phone agent lives in the same product as the outbound one.

Do driftwood and 11x compete for the same buyer?

Mostly not. The genuine 11x buyer is a mid-market or enterprise org replacing SDR headcount, with budget for a reported five-figure annual contract. driftwood is for founders and small teams whose constraint is replies rather than capacity.

The comparison matters most when a small team is tempted by the autonomous category; the head-to-head table on this page is written for that case.
